I'm excited to be on this site because gathering family stories is exactly what I did in order to write my nonfiction book, Leaving India: My Family's Journey from Five Villages to Five Continents, which has just been released from Houghton Mifflin Harcourt. I wanted to tell the amazing personal stories of people in my family who migrated along with the powerful social and economic forces that swept them, and all of us, into diaspora.

I did my interviewing with audio cassette tapes — remember those? — so I'm not sure how to convert those for uploading. But I would like to share a slideshow and video trailer:
