A movement is started by few, and led by
many. The following people have made it possible for you to lead
the Kahani Movement forward:
Dr. Sanjay Gupta, Co-founder
Dr. Sanjay Gupta is chief medical correspondent for the health and
medical unit at CNN. Based in Atlanta, Gupta also contributes
health news stories to CNN.com and CNNHealth.com, co-hosts “Accent
Health” for Turner Private Networks, provides medical segments for
the syndicated version of ER on TNT, writes a column for TIME
magazine, anchors the global health program Vital Signs for CNN
International and is featured in a weekly podcast on health issues
called "Paging Dr. Gupta." Gupta, a practicing neurosurgeon and an
assistant professor of neurosurgery at Emory University. Before
joining CNN, Gupta was a fellow in neurosurgery at the University
of Tennessee's Semmes-Murphy clinic, and before that, the
University of Michigan Medical Center. In 1997, he was chosen as a
White House Fellow — one of only 15 fellows appointed. He served as
special advisor to first lady Hillary Clinton.
Suneel Gupta, Co-founder
While working in President Clinton’s press operation, Suneel
developed a strong interest in the convergence of media and
technology and pursued this interest through strategic and venture
roles in various global markets. In 2004, he was recruited from the
private sector to co-draft the Democratic party’s national platform
(a collaborative mission statement for our nation) and later earned
a JD-MBA from Northwestern University. Suneel is currently working
with the Mozilla Corporation as a Director in the Mozilla Labs
group.
Amardeep Kaleka
Amardeep led
cinematography and production for the Kahani Movement. In his first
feature film, Baby Blues (2008), Amardeep produced, camera
operated, directed, and edited the $1.2 milion dollar project.
Afterwards, Kaleka created two new television shows - "Sex Culture"
and "Embarrassed" for MTV. His last documentary short film Binding
Faith, which was shot in India in 2007, has garnered many film
festival awards and accolades. Currently, he directs and edits for
clients such as Current TV, Elastic Lab, and Tomorrow Pictures.
Kiran Divvela
Kiran led web development for the Kahani Movement. He has been
involved with Internet startups since 2000, starting as a
co-founder of FeedMe, an online food ordering service targeted at
the college market, and most recently at the venture backed social
gaming startup Dotblu. As a member of the Obama campaign, Kiran
organized voter outreach events for the South Asian community in
San Francisco. He is currently pursuing an MBA at the MIT Sloan
School of Management.
Leena Rao
Leena is a writer for the technology news blog TechCrunch. She
recently finished graduate school at the Medill School of
Journalism at Northwestern University, where she studied business
journalism and videography. From 2004 to 2007, she helped lead
Congresswoman Carloyn Maloney’s community outreach and relations
efforts in New York City.
Sanjay Mishra
Sanjay Mishra's music was
featured in the Kahani Movement's trailer. Mishra, a guitarist and
composer, is a brilliant and innovative acclaimed musician know for
his east meets west musical compilations. Sanjay first came to
public acclaim for his album
"Blue Incantation" with
guitarist Jerry Garcia of The Grateful Dead. It is one of Mr.
Garcia's rare collaborations in his late years and represents some
of his last works.His latest CD
Chateau
Benares with guest appearances by DJ Logic and Keller Williams
among others, was received with rave reviews on National Public
Radio and The Washington Post. His score for the French film "Port
Djema" won for "Best Original Score" at The Hamptons Film Festival
in New York. The film was awarded the Silver Bear at the Berlin
Film Festival. Mishra is also the author of Guitar Atlas:India
published by Alfred.
Funkadesi
Funkadesi's music was
featured in the Kahani Movement's trailer. The 6-Time Winner of The
Chicago Music Awards, multi-ethnic band Funkadesi is based in
Chicago and performs an explosive music of bhangra, spicy
Afro-Latin beats, blues and lots more. What distinguishes Funkadesi
as a group is each band member’s unique and uncompromised
cultural/musical contribution merging to create one unifying sound
and vision.
